Academic Manager, Student Financial Services

Student Financial Services
Student Financial Services provides financial aid eligibility and application counseling and assists in the administration of financial aid programs, which may include scholarship programs. Works with students and families to provide financial education, explain loan repayment options, terms, and conditions for private, institutional, state, and federal financial aid programs.

Position Summary

The Academic Manager within Student Financial Services is responsible for leading and managing a team that supports students in navigating their financial aid options and ensuring their financial aid applications are processed accurately and efficiently. This role oversees the day-to-day operations of the team, providing guidance and supervision on the administration of financial aid programs, including federal, state, and institutional funds. The manager ensures that students and families are provided with timely information and resources, including financial aid counseling, loan repayment options, and scholarship opportunities. Additionally, the manager plays a key role in implementing policies and procedures that comply with federal, state, and institutional regulations. In this role, the manager is directly accountable for the team's productivity and performance. This includes setting team goals, ensuring alignment with university-wide strategic priorities, and monitoring the team’s progress. The manager also fosters a culture of continuous improvement, identifying areas for enhancement in financial aid processes and developing training programs to ensure the team remains well-versed in the latest financial aid policies and technologies. The manager provides regular feedback, performance evaluations, and coaching to ensure team members are meeting established goals and maintaining high standards of customer service. The Academic Manager works closely with senior leadership within Student Financial Services and across departments to develop and execute strategic initiatives aimed at improving student access to financial aid resources. The manager is responsible for resource allocation, budgeting for their unit, and maintaining efficient processes to support student success. Additionally, the manager helps drive broader student retention and success initiatives by ensuring students receive the financial support they need to continue their education without unnecessary barriers. This role is integral in shaping the student financial experience and ensuring that the team delivers exceptional service to the university's diverse student population.
