General Consultant, Student Financial Services

Student Financial Services
Student Financial Services provides financial aid eligibility and application counseling and assists in the administration of financial aid programs, which may include scholarship programs. Works with students and families to provide financial education, explain loan repayment options, terms, and conditions for private, institutional, state, and federal financial aid programs.

Position Summary

The General Consultant within Student Financial Services plays an advanced-level, consultative role in guiding students and their families through complex financial aid processes. This position is responsible for providing expert-level advice on financial aid eligibility, including federal, state, and institutional aid programs, as well as loan repayment options and scholarship opportunities. The consultant acts as a subject matter expert, offering in-depth consultations to both students and staff to ensure compliance with financial aid regulations and university policies. This role requires a thorough understanding of financial aid systems, policies, and regulations, as well as the ability to translate complex financial information into accessible guidance for students. In this capacity, the General Consultant serves as a key resource for strategic financial aid planning, recommending improvements and best practices in the delivery of services. This position is expected to manage high-level consultations regarding financial aid strategies, working closely with senior leadership to ensure that financial services align with institutional goals and regulatory requirements. The consultant also participates in the development and implementation of financial aid-related workshops, events, and outreach programs, contributing to the ongoing education of students, families, and staff on financial aid matters. Moreover, the General Consultant leads or supports special projects within the Student Financial Services department, offering expertise on policy development, program evaluations, and the assessment of financial aid processes. This includes analyzing financial aid data and trends to inform policy decisions, making recommendations for continuous improvement, and providing mentorship to less experienced team members. The position requires an advanced level of expertise, independence in decision-making, and the ability to lead initiatives that enhance the overall financial services experience for students, ensuring they have the resources they need to succeed in their academic endeavors.
