General Supervisor, Student Financial Services

Student Financial Services
Student Financial Services provides financial aid eligibility and application counseling and assists in the administration of financial aid programs, which may include scholarship programs. Works with students and families to provide financial education, explain loan repayment options, terms, and conditions for private, institutional, state, and federal financial aid programs.

They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Position Summary

The General Supervisor within Student Financial Services is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a team providing essential financial aid services to students. This position involves supervising a team of financial aid specialists and counselors, ensuring that they deliver accurate, timely, and effective financial aid information and services to students and their families. The supervisor coordinates work schedules, manages team workflows, and ensures that team members adhere to university policies and federal and state regulations governing financial aid programs. Additionally, the supervisor will be responsible for providing guidance and support to the team, ensuring that they are well-trained and equipped to handle student inquiries related to financial aid, loan repayment, and scholarship opportunities. This role requires strong leadership skills as the supervisor will be directly accountable for the performance, productivity, and professional development of team members. Responsibilities include conducting performance evaluations, providing training and mentorship, and implementing strategies for staff development. The supervisor will also play a key role in resolving complex financial aid issues and ensuring that the department runs smoothly and efficiently, meeting both short-term goals and long-term objectives. Additionally, they will monitor workloads, assign tasks, and ensure the completion of financial aid processing within the designated timelines. The General Supervisor also ensures that the Student Financial Services department maintains compliance with relevant regulations and institutional policies while delivering high-quality customer service to students and families. This includes reviewing financial aid applications, guiding team members on the processing of awards, and troubleshooting challenges that arise within the department. The supervisor will also collaborate with other units within Student Services to support university-wide goals, such as increasing student retention and success. This position requires a solid understanding of financial aid processes, leadership capabilities, and an ability to manage both day-to-day operations and larger department initiatives.
