Counseling and Mental Health is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating mental, behavioral and emotional problems and disorders. Through discussion of emotions and experiences, uses evidence-based counseling techniques to help patients dealing with issues that affect their mental health and well-being. Helps patients come up with goals and plan action.
Management / Leadership

Position Summary

The General Supervisor in Counseling and Mental Health plays a key leadership role in overseeing the daily operations of administrative and support staff within a university's counseling and mental health services. Situated within Student Services and Healthcare Services, this position ensures the efficient delivery of mental health care and related administrative functions, supporting both clinical providers and students. The supervisor coordinates scheduling, manages workflows, and ensures compliance with institutional policies and regulatory standards that guide mental health care delivery in a higher education setting. This role involves the direct supervision of administrative and technical staff, including onboarding, training, performance evaluation, and ongoing professional development. The supervisor ensures that operational needs are met, facilitates communication between staff and clinical teams, and helps identify and resolve service delivery challenges. By providing structure and support to front-line personnel, the supervisor plays a pivotal part in ensuring that students receive timely and coordinated access to mental health services. The General Supervisor works closely with licensed mental health professionals, healthcare administrators, and other university partners to maintain a supportive and responsive environment for student care. This position requires a strong understanding of healthcare or mental health service settings, attention to confidentiality, and the ability to manage competing priorities with discretion and professionalism. With a focus on operational excellence and team performance, the supervisor helps uphold the mission of Counseling and Mental Health Services to support student wellness and academic success.
