Health Education and Outreach is responsible for the health of the student and employee population, decreasing the impact of illnesses and diseases by encouraging healthy behavior through education and outreach. Provides health-related education guidelines, encouragement and support to individuals, while holding them accountable for achieving their health goals.

Position Summary

The Academic Manager within Health Education and Outreach leads the strategic planning and operational oversight of health education initiatives that directly support the academic success and personal development of students. Situated within Student Services, this role plays a central part in promoting student well-being by aligning health education programs with institutional goals in areas such as academic advising, health and wellness services, student engagement, and learning support. The manager ensures that health-related outreach efforts are fully integrated into the student experience, fostering environments that encourage resilience, self-advocacy, and academic persistence. Operating within the broader Healthcare Services framework, the Academic Manager collaborates closely with clinical, counseling, and mental health professionals to support the continuum of care through preventive education and outreach. The role involves overseeing the design and implementation of evidence-based health promotion initiatives and guiding the development of resources that empower students and staff to make informed health decisions. This includes the coordination of campus-wide campaigns, peer education programs, and targeted outreach that address both acute and long-term health needs impacting the student and employee population. As a Level 2 Manager within the academic administration and leadership track, this position is responsible for leading a team of health educators, support staff, and program coordinators. The manager is accountable for the performance and output of the team, including resource allocation, staff development, goal setting, and program evaluation. They implement department-level strategies, ensure compliance with institutional and public health standards, and contribute to long-term planning to sustain a healthy campus culture. The position requires a strong balance of leadership, strategic insight, and student-centered focus to drive initiatives that reduce health disparities and promote overall academic achievement.
