Health Education & Outreach
Health Education and Outreach is responsible for the health of the student and employee population, decreasing the impact of illnesses and diseases by encouraging healthy behavior through education and outreach. Provides health-related education guidelines, encouragement and support to individuals, while holding them accountable for achieving their health goals.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The General Manager within Health Education and Outreach is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the health education programs aimed at improving the overall well-being of the student and employee population. This role involves managing a team of health educators and support staff to ensure the effective delivery of health-related education and outreach services. The General Manager will be responsible for setting departmental goals, allocating resources, and ensuring that health education initiatives are aligned with institutional health objectives. They will play a crucial role in coordinating with other departments within Student Services to integrate health education efforts with broader wellness and support services. As a manager, the General Manager will oversee the development and implementation of health education programs that promote wellness, prevent disease, and encourage healthy behaviors across the campus community. This includes supervising the creation of educational materials, organizing workshops and outreach events, and evaluating the effectiveness of existing programs. Additionally, the General Manager will be accountable for the management of the department’s budget, scheduling, and staffing, ensuring that all activities and programs are well-supported and meet established goals. The role also involves providing leadership and guidance to the health education team, fostering a collaborative and results-oriented environment. In this managerial position, the General Manager is expected to lead by example, providing mentorship and direction to staff, conducting performance evaluations, and managing staff development. They will play a key role in strategic planning, identifying areas for improvement, and ensuring that the department remains innovative in its approach to health education. As part of the broader student services team, the General Manager will also work with leadership to integrate health education initiatives into larger campus-wide wellness efforts, ensuring that health education is a central component of the university’s mission to support the academic and personal success of students and employees.
