Academic Advising provides advising, planning, and support services to students to ensure their academic, personal and professional success. Advises students concerning an appropriate academic schedule and course selection, choice of major, minor, degree and graduation requirements, interpretation of department, college and university requirements, career exploration, and other related matters.

Position Summary

The Academic Coordinator in Academic Advising plays a key role in supporting and enhancing the advising process for students across a variety of academic disciplines. As an individual contributor, this role involves assisting students in planning their academic schedules, selecting courses, and understanding degree requirements, with the goal of fostering their academic, personal, and professional growth. The coordinator provides guidance to students in choosing their majors, minors, and exploring career paths, ensuring they understand the necessary steps to achieve their academic goals and meet graduation requirements. Additionally, the coordinator works closely with faculty and staff to maintain alignment with institutional policies and best practices in advising. The Academic Coordinator collaborates with academic advisors to implement effective advising strategies, providing day-to-day support to ensure smooth operations within the advising unit. This includes organizing and tracking advising appointments, managing advising materials, and supporting the academic development of students through workshops, events, and other programming. The coordinator also ensures that students are well-informed about the available resources, such as tutoring services, career counseling, and academic workshops, and encourages their utilization to enhance student success. In addition to direct student support, the Academic Coordinator will assist in evaluating the effectiveness of academic advising services. This includes gathering feedback from students, faculty, and staff to improve the advising process and ensure that it meets the diverse needs of the student body. The coordinator will also maintain detailed records of advising interactions and monitor student progress towards meeting their academic and career goals. By providing administrative support and strategic input, the Academic Coordinator plays a vital role in enhancing the overall student experience, promoting academic achievement, and supporting retention and graduation efforts.
