Position Summary

The Senior Academic Coordinator within Student Advising plays a crucial role in overseeing the planning and execution of student advising services, ensuring that all academic, personal, and professional support services meet the diverse needs of students. This position works independently and with a high degree of autonomy, taking responsibility for implementing and enhancing advising strategies that help students navigate their academic journey. The Senior Coordinator serves as a point of contact for both students and staff, providing guidance on complex academic planning issues, career exploration, and major selection, while ensuring that all advising practices are aligned with institutional goals and policies. In addition to providing direct advising support, the Senior Academic Coordinator is responsible for managing and improving advising programs, ensuring they are effective and responsive to student needs. This role involves conducting regular assessments of advising services, gathering feedback, and making recommendations for improvements. The Senior Coordinator may also supervise and mentor less experienced academic advisors, assisting in their professional development and ensuring consistent, high-quality advising practices across the department. Additionally, this position plays a key role in coordinating and facilitating advising-related events, workshops, and initiatives aimed at enhancing the student experience. The Senior Academic Coordinator collaborates closely with other student services departments to create a cohesive support system for students, working cross-functionally to address academic challenges and create proactive solutions. They are expected to contribute to the development of advising policies and procedures, manage the implementation of new advising technologies, and provide regular reports to senior leadership on student progress and advising outcomes. As a senior member of the team, the Coordinator helps drive strategic initiatives to enhance student success and ensures that the academic advising team operates efficiently and effectively to meet the evolving needs of the student population.
