General Supervisor, Military Affairs

Military Affairs is responsible for serving the universitys military student community. Collaborates with university partners to ensure military and veteran dependents are connected to the financial, academic, and social resources necessary for a successful transition to and through their course of study at the university.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The General Supervisor for Military Affairs provides day-to-day oversight and operational support for services that assist military-affiliated students, including veterans, active-duty service members, and their dependents. Positioned within the broader scope of Student Services and Student Affairs, this role ensures that military-connected students receive timely access to academic guidance, financial support, and co-curricular resources that enhance their educational experience and personal development. The supervisor plays a key role in helping students navigate their transition to and through the university by maintaining strong connections with internal departments and external military organizations. In this leadership position, the General Supervisor is responsible for coordinating the work of a team of administrative and support staff who deliver direct services to students. This includes scheduling, assigning responsibilities, managing workloads, and ensuring compliance with federal and institutional policies related to military benefits, enrollment certification, and student engagement. The supervisor also oversees the training and development of team members, evaluates performance, and ensures the delivery of services that are accurate, efficient, and responsive to the unique needs of the military student population. As part of the General Administration career track at the Supervisor (M1) level, this role emphasizes operational excellence and team-based leadership. The supervisor contributes to departmental planning, tracks key performance indicators, and helps implement strategies that support student success and retention among military-affiliated students. This position plays a critical role in promoting an inclusive and supportive campus environment that values service, recognizes the contributions of military students, and prepares them for academic and professional achievement.
