Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The General Supervisor for Student Affairs plays a critical role in overseeing the daily operations and supporting the efficient delivery of co-curricular services and programs within the division of Student Affairs. This position directly supervises a team of administrative and support staff responsible for implementing various student services that enhance students' personal and academic development. The General Supervisor coordinates schedules, workflow, and ensures the timely and effective completion of tasks and projects, providing essential leadership to maintain a positive and supportive student environment. This role helps ensure that students have access to the resources necessary to thrive academically, socially, and personally during their time at the university. In addition to managing day-to-day operations, the General Supervisor is responsible for the orientation, training, and professional development of team members. The supervisor conducts performance evaluations, manages workloads, and supports staff with ongoing guidance to ensure successful execution of responsibilities. This role plays a key part in maintaining high levels of student satisfaction by ensuring that student affairs programs and services are delivered consistently and in alignment with university policies and objectives. As part of the leadership team, the General Supervisor assists in identifying opportunities for improvement and implements strategies to optimize the department’s efficiency and effectiveness. The General Supervisor also works closely with other departments within Student Affairs to ensure collaboration and support in delivering programs and services. This includes ensuring alignment with the overall goals of Student Affairs, monitoring departmental performance, and resolving any issues or concerns that may arise. By providing leadership and fostering an inclusive and effective working environment, the General Supervisor contributes to the success of student services and the broader student experience, ensuring students are supported in their journey toward academic and personal achievement.
