Student Services is responsible for the management and administration of work in multiple student services specialties, including but not limited to academic advising, career services, admissions, financial aid, student advocacy and support, health and wellness services, student engagement and development, learning support services, and housing and residential life.

Individual contributors may: Coordinate, influence, or review the work of others. Be the authority on a given program or process. Lead teams. A range of knowledge, complexity, autonomy, and impact may be needed to achieve results at certain levels. Individual contributor roles are reflected in the Academic Administration, Development, General Administration, Technical/STEM, and C1-C4 of the Clinical tracks.

Position Summary

The Academic Consultant within Student Services serves as a highly experienced professional who provides advanced academic support and strategic guidance across multiple student services areas, including academic advising, career development, financial aid, student support, and learning services. Operating within the academic administration track, the consultant collaborates with students, faculty, and staff to address complex academic and administrative challenges while ensuring that services align with institutional policies and student success initiatives. The role emphasizes a holistic and student-centered approach to advising, problem-solving, and academic planning. As an individual contributor at the advanced level, the Academic Consultant works independently to lead initiatives, improve service delivery, and shape programmatic strategies. This role serves as a subject matter expert in one or more student services specialties, often acting as the primary authority on specific programs or policies. The consultant influences and coordinates the work of others, mentors junior staff, and provides leadership within teams and cross-functional committees. The position also involves interpreting and applying institutional regulations to individual student cases, often requiring nuanced judgment and high-impact decision-making. This position is designed for professionals with substantial experience in higher education and a deep understanding of student development and academic success frameworks. The Academic Consultant plays a critical role in supporting institutional goals through the delivery of high-quality services and the cultivation of a supportive, inclusive, and responsive student environment. By combining strategic oversight with direct student engagement, the consultant contributes to a university culture that values equity, retention, and academic excellence.
