Student Success fosters an environment that helps students achieve success. Evaluates students and may make referrals for tutoring, more specialized counseling, and other resources as warranted. Serves as a liaison to other university student resources. Develops and implements academic support programs.

They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The Academic Manager within Student Success is responsible for leading and overseeing a team of professionals dedicated to supporting student achievement and success. This role involves setting clear objectives and goals for the academic support team, ensuring alignment with the institution’s student success initiatives. The manager provides strategic direction for academic support programs, such as tutoring services, academic counseling, and student referrals to other resources, ensuring these services are effectively implemented and meet the needs of students across the university. The manager also ensures that these programs are responsive to changing student needs and evolving academic support trends. The Academic Manager is accountable for the day-to-day operations and overall performance of the academic support team. This includes hiring, training, evaluating, and managing staff, as well as overseeing their professional development. The manager provides mentorship and coaching to staff, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment. In addition, the manager is responsible for establishing and maintaining operational systems that optimize the team’s efficiency, manage resources effectively, and track progress toward goals. They also ensure the integration of student success strategies across various support services, including academic advising, tutoring, and other student engagement initiatives. Furthermore, the Academic Manager plays a vital role in collaborating with other departments within Student Services to coordinate student success efforts across the institution. This includes working closely with academic advisors, career services, and counseling services to identify students who may require additional academic support and ensuring that appropriate resources are provided. The manager is also responsible for reporting on the effectiveness of student success programs, using data and feedback to inform decision-making and continuous improvement. Ultimately, the Academic Manager ensures that academic support services are delivered effectively, helping students overcome challenges and achieve their academic goals.
