Engagement/Alumni Relations is responsible for the strategy, planning, and execution of events, volunteer activities and partnerships with alumni clubs and/or corporations to further the mission of the university.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 3
Director: Directs and controls the activities of multiple university units or leads a team of professionals with significant university wide impact. Typically has indirect reports. In charge of overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, etc. for the unit. Collaborates with executive leadership on establishing strategic goals across the function.

Position Summary

The General Director of Engagement and Alumni Relations leads the strategy, planning, and execution of programs and activities that foster strong, enduring connections between the university and its alumni. This position is responsible for developing and implementing initiatives that enhance alumni engagement, including organizing events, coordinating volunteer opportunities, and establishing partnerships with alumni clubs and corporations. The Director ensures that these efforts align with the university’s mission and strategic objectives, while strengthening the overall alumni network and supporting the university’s fundraising goals. As a leader, the General Director oversees a team of professionals responsible for the day-to-day execution of alumni engagement initiatives. The Director is accountable for setting strategic priorities, managing resources, and driving the successful implementation of alumni relations programs. This includes overseeing event logistics, volunteer engagement, and alumni communication efforts, as well as collaborating with other departments within the university to ensure cohesive strategies for outreach and engagement. The Director also works to expand the university’s alumni network, creating opportunities for alumni to contribute to the university's mission and growth. In addition to managing the operational aspects of alumni relations, the General Director plays a key role in collaborating with executive leadership to set long-term goals and assess the effectiveness of engagement programs. The Director ensures that alumni relations efforts are data-driven, evaluating participation rates and feedback to inform future strategies. By fostering a culture of connection and involvement, the Director helps position alumni as vital partners in advancing the university’s mission, strengthening its reputation, and increasing philanthropic support.
