Leadership Gifts identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership gifts from critical, high-profile prospects/donors. Designs and implements strategic fundraising plans through collaboration for academic units, regional campuses, and complex markets. Typically manages a portfolio of approximately 250 prospects and gift solicitations of less than $100,000.

Position Summary

The Development Specialist for Leadership Gifts plays a key role in the university’s fundraising efforts by managing a portfolio of approximately 250 high-profile prospects. The primary responsibility is to identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward leadership gifts of less than $100,000. This position works closely with academic units, regional campuses, and complex market sectors to design and implement strategic fundraising plans that align with the university’s overall advancement goals. The Development Specialist will use various strategies to engage potential donors, build lasting relationships, and contribute to the growth of the university’s donor base. In this intermediate-level role, the Development Specialist is expected to execute donor engagement activities, including crafting solicitation materials, managing donor communications, and tracking progress against fundraising goals. The position requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues across departments. While the role involves a high level of autonomy, the specialist will also receive guidance and support from senior development staff.
