Major Gifts
Major Gifts identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts from critical, high-profile prospects/donors. Designs and implements strategic fundraising plans through collaboration for academic units, regional campuses, and complex markets. Typically manages a portfolio of approximately 100 prospects and gift solicitations of $100,000 to $5,000,000.

Position Summary

The Development Consultant within Major Gifts plays a critical role in driving the university’s fundraising efforts by identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts. In this position, the consultant manages a portfolio of high-profile donors and prospects, typically valued between $100,000 and $5 million, working to secure transformational contributions. By developing and executing tailored fundraising strategies, the Development Consultant engages donors to advance the university’s mission, ensuring alignment between donor interests and the institution's priorities. This role involves close collaboration with academic units, regional campuses, and leadership to design and implement effective fundraising plans. The Development Consultant is responsible for maintaining ongoing relationships with prospects, overseeing the donor engagement process, and facilitating gift solicitation. Their efforts ensure the university meets its fundraising goals, leveraging each donor interaction to secure long-term commitments and increase philanthropic support across various initiatives and projects. As an individual contributor, the Development Consultant operates with a high degree of independence, utilizing advanced expertise to make strategic decisions and influence outcomes. In addition to managing a complex donor portfolio, the consultant serves as a subject-matter expert, providing guidance to other development staff, mentoring junior team members, and contributing to the broader fundraising strategy. This role requires deep knowledge of major gift fundraising and a proven ability to navigate complex donor relationships while achieving ambitious fundraising targets.
