Strategic Alliances is responsible for enhancing organizational growth and sustainability through the arrangement of relationships with external organizations to undertake a mutually beneficial project while each still retains its independence.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 2
Executive: Has senior-level leadership responsibilities for major unit operations. Establishes and implements policies, procedures, programs, fiscal authority, and operational autonomy. Leads department heads, chairs, school directors, directors, senior managers, and managers. Scope of responsibility is university wide for an overall college or business unit.

Position Summary

The General Executive within Strategic Alliances provides senior-level leadership in cultivating and managing external partnerships that enhance the university’s growth, innovation capacity, and long-term sustainability. This role is responsible for setting and driving strategic initiatives that align university goals with mutually beneficial collaborations across industries, non-profit sectors, government agencies, and academic institutions. Through a deep understanding of institutional priorities and market opportunities, the executive builds high-impact alliances that generate shared value and expand the university’s reach and influence. With university-wide scope and authority, the General Executive oversees the operational and strategic functions of the Strategic Alliances unit, including the establishment of policies, programs, and partnership models. The position manages and mentors department heads, directors, and senior managers, ensuring the integration of alliance strategies with institutional planning, business development, and academic priorities. The executive also facilitates cross-functional coordination between internal stakeholders to streamline negotiations, contract execution, compliance, and project implementation. As a member of senior leadership, this role participates in high-level planning and decision-making, contributing to the broader direction of Business Operations and Administration. The General Executive represents the university in critical external discussions and is accountable for building long-term partnerships that support innovation, resource development, and reputational growth. By leading with vision and operational excellence, the executive plays a key role in advancing the university’s mission through collaborative and strategic engagement.
