Position Summary

The General Coordinator of Special Events is an intermediate-level individual contributor responsible for managing and coordinating the logistics and execution of a wide range of events designed to advance the university’s mission, enhance engagement, and build a sense of community. This position plays a crucial role in supporting the planning and delivery of both large-scale events and more intimate gatherings that are strategically aligned with the university’s goals and priorities. Key responsibilities include overseeing all aspects of event planning, from conceptualization to execution. This includes coordinating venues, vendors, and event materials, managing event timelines and budgets, and ensuring all logistics run smoothly on the day of the event. The General Coordinator will work closely with internal stakeholders to align event objectives with broader university strategies, ensuring that each event contributes to the overall mission of enhancing engagement and fostering relationships within the university community. In addition to event coordination, the General Coordinator will assist in developing event materials, managing registration processes, and communicating event details to participants and other stakeholders. They will also be responsible for evaluating the success of events and providing feedback for future improvement. The ideal candidate will have experience in event planning, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. This role requires a collaborative approach, as well as strong communication, problem-solving, and time-management skills. The General Coordinator of Special Events is expected to work closely with colleagues across various departments, contributing to the successful execution of events that positively impact the university community.
