Position Summary

The Senior General Coordinator of Special Events is a senior-level individual contributor responsible for the strategic planning, coordination, and execution of high-profile and complex special events that support the university's goals. This role involves managing a broad portfolio of events designed to enhance engagement, foster community, and advance the institution’s mission. The Senior General Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring that these events are aligned with the university’s strategic priorities and are delivered with excellence. Key responsibilities include overseeing all stages of event planning, from initial concept through to post-event evaluation. The Senior Coordinator will work closely with leadership, internal departments, and external vendors to manage logistics, budgets, and resources for large-scale events, ensuring they align with the university’s vision. This includes supervising event production, managing detailed timelines, developing event marketing materials, and coordinating staff, volunteers, and other stakeholders. Additionally, the Senior General Coordinator will assess the success of events by gathering feedback and analyzing data, using these insights to refine strategies for future events. They may also take a leadership role in mentoring junior staff and supporting team development, contributing to the growth and professional development of the special events team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in event planning and execution, with the ability to manage complex projects independently. This role requires exceptional organizational and communication skills, as well as a proven track record of successful event management. The Senior General Coordinator of Special Events must be able to work under pressure, make critical decisions, and demonstrate leadership in coordinating multiple, high-impact events that strengthen the university's engagement with internal and external stakeholders.
