Position Summary

The Senior Analyst within Campus Planning is responsible for providing high-level analysis and strategic insights that support the university’s long-term campus development and planning initiatives. This role plays a critical part in evaluating and shaping the university’s land use, urban design, open spaces, density, and circulation networks to ensure that Virginia Tech’s physical spaces continue to serve and inspire its community. Working independently, the Senior Analyst conducts in-depth research, data analysis, and evaluation of land use and siting decisions, and contributes to the development and refinement of planning and urban design guidelines. The role requires a deep understanding of campus planning principles, project management processes, and technical knowledge related to campus development. The Senior Analyst takes a leadership role within the team, coordinating complex planning efforts, reviewing reports, and offering recommendations to senior leadership. In addition to technical expertise, the position requires the ability to collaborate with various university departments, external stakeholders, and contractors to ensure that campus projects align with overall strategic goals and are implemented successfully. This position acts as a key authority on campus planning projects, leveraging experience and education to guide the development of physical spaces across the university. The Senior Analyst will provide mentorship and support to junior team members and help drive project execution while maintaining a high level of independence in managing and completing assignments. The role is essential in contributing to the university’s mission by shaping its physical environment in a way that meets current and future needs.
