Position Summary

The Senior General Coordinator within Campus Planning plays a critical role in supporting the strategic development and management of Virginia Tech's physical spaces. In collaboration with Campus Operations, this position ensures that the university’s facilities and resources are well-planned, functional, and sustainable, serving the needs of those who learn, work, and visit. The Senior General Coordinator supports planning, design, installation, and construction services while helping manage the ongoing operation and maintenance of the university's physical environment. In the area of Campus Planning, the Senior General Coordinator is responsible for assisting with the development and execution of land use, urban design, open space, and circulation networks across the campus. This position helps create and enforce planning and urban design guidelines, evaluates land use and siting decisions, and contributes to establishing parameters for campus development sites. The Senior General Coordinator works independently and may take a leadership role in coordinating planning efforts, ensuring that the university’s campus development is aligned with its long-term goals and sustainability initiatives. As a senior-level individual contributor, the Senior General Coordinator is expected to have significant experience and education, with a high level of autonomy in their role. This individual may also provide guidance and leadership to junior team members, ensuring that all planning projects are completed efficiently and according to the university’s strategic vision. Their expertise and oversight are key to supporting the growth and development of the campus, driving the success of various planning initiatives, and fostering collaboration across departments.
