Engineering Services provides technical support for mechanical and electrical building and infrastructure systems and equipment. May design mechanical and electrical engineering systems, size and specify equipment, prepare engineering calculations and studies, create design documents, and certify them for construction.

Position Summary

The Senior Analyst within Engineering Services at Virginia Tech is responsible for providing advanced technical support and expertise in the design, maintenance, and operation of mechanical and electrical building systems across campus facilities. With substantial experience and education, this position requires independent action while also supporting the broader engineering team in complex projects. The Senior Analyst plays a key role in preparing engineering calculations and studies, creating detailed design documents, and ensuring the accuracy and compliance of these documents for construction. In addition to individual technical responsibilities, the Senior Analyst often coordinates, influences, and may review the work of junior team members, providing mentorship and guidance on best practices and technical standards. This role also involves leading specific technical projects, ensuring that systems and equipment are properly sized, specified, and meet the needs of Virginia Tech’s infrastructure. The Senior Analyst works closely with facilities management, ensuring that engineering solutions align with the university's broader goals of maintaining safe, efficient, and sustainable physical spaces. This position is integral to supporting Virginia Tech's operations, collaborating across departments to ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and in accordance with university standards. The Senior Analyst also has the responsibility to evaluate and propose improvements to engineering systems and processes, contributing to the overall optimization of university facilities.
