General Manager, Human Resources

Human Resources designs and implements human resources programs and provides consultation to management on appropriate practices for recruitment and staffing, compensation, benefits, employee and labor relations, professional and organizational development, HR information systems, and other workplace aspects that impact the universitys employees.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 2
Manager: Responsible for leading a team of professionals and/or support employees. Has full responsibility for team output. Focuses on implementing and executing strategies within their own department or team.
G - General Administration

Position Summary

The General Manager within Human Resources is responsible for leading and managing a team of professionals and/or support employees within the HR department. This role includes overseeing the execution of HR strategies, programs, and initiatives while ensuring that departmental goals align with the broader objectives of the organization. The General Manager is accountable for managing resources effectively and ensuring optimal team performance and productivity. This position requires administrative oversight, including hiring, firing, and conducting performance evaluations. The General Manager is also responsible for managing disciplinary actions and overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team. Additionally, the role involves setting long-term goals and driving continuous improvements within the HR department, while collaborating with senior leadership to align HR practices with the university’s strategic goals. This position plays a key role in maintaining effective HR operations and fostering a positive work environment for both staff and faculty.
