Operates and controls all computing equipment relating to data infrastructure and applications, including servers, mainframes, databases, software, and security measures.

Position Summary

The Analyst in Database Administration is responsible for assisting with the management, configuration, and optimization of the university’s database systems. This role involves ensuring the efficient and secure operation of databases, supporting the database infrastructure, and helping maintain database integrity. The Analyst will assist in the design and implementation of databases, contributing to the organization’s data management strategies. Additionally, this role is involved in monitoring database performance, conducting routine maintenance tasks, and troubleshooting issues to ensure the systems run efficiently. In this role, the Database Administration Analyst will help enforce standards for data capture, storage, integration, and management across the university’s data systems. This involves collaborating with other teams to ensure that data is securely stored, easily accessed, and effectively managed. The Analyst will assist in performing backups, restorations, and recovery procedures, as well as ensuring that databases are in compliance with university policies and relevant regulations. The role will also involve assisting with system upgrades, applying patches, and optimizing databases for performance improvements. The Database Administration Analyst will work as part of a larger team, contributing their expertise to help maintain and improve the university’s data infrastructure. They will collaborate with technical staff and other stakeholders to identify areas for improvement, suggest enhancements, and implement solutions. Additionally, the Analyst will support database security measures, helping to enforce best practices in securing data and ensuring proper access control. This role requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to follow and contribute to established processes, all while gaining exposure to new database technologies and practices within the data management field.
