Position Summary

The Senior Analyst in Database Administration is responsible for the advanced management, optimization, and security of the university’s database systems. In this role, the Senior Analyst plays a critical role in overseeing the day-to-day operation of databases, ensuring that they run efficiently, securely, and in alignment with organizational goals. The position involves a high level of responsibility in supporting database infrastructure, conducting performance tuning, and troubleshooting complex issues. The Senior Analyst will also take the lead on strategic projects to enhance database performance and scalability while ensuring data integrity and security compliance with university policies and industry standards. In addition to managing and maintaining the database infrastructure, the Senior Database Administration Analyst provides expertise in developing and enforcing best practices for data management. They work closely with teams across the university to ensure that data is captured, stored, integrated, and consumed securely and efficiently. The role involves managing backups, disaster recovery, and ensuring that database systems are optimized for both reliability and performance. The Senior Analyst will also collaborate on data architecture and design projects, helping to integrate new technologies and ensuring the seamless transition of systems from legacy platforms to modern solutions. As a senior-level individual contributor, the Senior Analyst is expected to act with a high degree of autonomy and technical leadership. They will mentor junior staff and provide guidance on complex database-related issues, helping to develop skills and ensure adherence to best practices. The Senior Analyst will also work on projects that involve the integration of new database technologies, provide insights into optimizing database operations, and contribute to long-term planning and strategy for the university’s data infrastructure. Their role will be crucial in ensuring the ongoing improvement of database administration processes, maintaining high levels of performance, security, and operational efficiency within the data management framework.
