Position Summary

The Technical Director within Domain Architecture provides visionary leadership and strategic oversight in the development and execution of architectural frameworks that support the university’s enterprise-wide information technology initiatives. This role operates at the intersection of business strategy and technology implementation, ensuring that all computing systems, applications, data management solutions, and IT infrastructure align with institutional goals. The director is responsible for developing and maintaining secure, scalable, and high-performing technical environments, while evaluating and implementing emerging technologies to drive innovation and system modernization across the enterprise. Serving as a key leader in the Enterprise Architecture function, the Technical Director leads the design and integration of complex architecture solutions, ensuring consistency with enterprise standards and long-term strategic direction. This role collaborates with university stakeholders and senior leadership to translate business needs into sustainable technical solutions, facilitates the transition from legacy systems to modern platforms, and ensures compliance with data governance, cybersecurity, and operational resilience standards. The director also provides domain-specific guidance to architecture teams, enhancing cross-functional collaboration and optimizing system interoperability across departments. Operating at the director level (M3), this position requires a high degree of technical expertise, strategic planning, and managerial acumen. The Technical Director manages a team of architects and technologists, providing performance oversight, setting departmental goals, and ensuring effective resource allocation and staff development. This role is accountable for planning, budgeting, and operational success within the domain architecture space and collaborates with executive leadership to influence university-wide IT policy and strategy. Through strong leadership and domain-specific knowledge, the Technical Director ensures that architectural solutions are future-ready, aligned with institutional objectives, and capable of meeting evolving technological demands.
