Enterprise Architecture is responsible for designing architecture solutions for a variety of enterprise initiatives and aligning these solutions with the overall enterprise architecture.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

Position Summary

The Associate Technical Executive within Enterprise Architecture provides strategic leadership for the design, governance, and evolution of enterprise-wide architecture frameworks, ensuring alignment with the university’s mission, goals, and technology roadmap. This executive-level role is responsible for the comprehensive planning and oversight of architecture solutions across the IT landscape, encompassing infrastructure, applications, data management, and cybersecurity. With a strong technical foundation, the Associate Executive drives innovation and integration of emerging technologies, facilitating the transition from legacy systems and enhancing the performance and sustainability of enterprise systems. Functioning as a key leader in the university’s Information Technology organization, this role oversees the development and implementation of architectural strategies that support cross-functional initiatives and enterprise-scale digital transformation. The Associate Executive collaborates with senior leadership and stakeholders to ensure that architectural standards, frameworks, and designs are consistent, scalable, and secure. They provide executive guidance on enterprise architecture practices, promote alignment between IT and business objectives, and lead initiatives to optimize resource utilization, system interoperability, and long-term technology planning. At the E1 level, this role carries executive accountability for a university-wide sub-function with multiple disciplines under its purview. The Associate Technical Executive supervises a broad team of directors and managers, setting strategic goals, operational priorities, and policy recommendations for the Enterprise Architecture function. They contribute to university-wide decision-making panels and high-level planning forums, ensuring that architectural initiatives are integrated into broader institutional priorities. With a focus on transformational impact, this leader shapes the future state of enterprise architecture, advancing the university’s ability to deliver modern, efficient, and agile technology services.
