Position Summary

The Technical Director within Solutions Architecture provides strategic leadership in the design and delivery of solution-focused architecture initiatives that support the university’s enterprise goals. This role is responsible for ensuring that solution architectures effectively bridge business requirements with technical capabilities, aligning with both enterprise architecture standards and long-term institutional objectives. The director oversees the development of high-quality, scalable, and secure solution designs that enhance system integration, modernize legacy technologies, and enable digital transformation across administrative and academic functions. Working within the broader Enterprise Architecture framework, the Technical Director leads the development of architectural blueprints and solution strategies in collaboration with business stakeholders, IT leaders, and technical teams. This role evaluates and selects appropriate technologies, tools, and design patterns to meet evolving institutional needs while ensuring consistency with architectural governance. The director plays a pivotal role in managing large-scale solution initiatives—from planning through execution—by aligning them with IT infrastructure, application lifecycle, cybersecurity practices, and data management strategies. Operating at the M3 level, the Technical Director manages a team of solution architects and technical specialists, providing leadership in goal-setting, resource allocation, performance management, and professional development. The director is responsible for planning, staffing, budgeting, and operational success within the Solutions Architecture domain. This position also serves as a key advisor to executive leadership, contributing to IT strategic planning and institutional policy development. Through innovative thinking, technical depth, and strong leadership, the Technical Director ensures that the university’s solution architectures are robust, adaptable, and capable of supporting the institution’s mission and future growth.
