Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Educational Technology provides leadership and oversight for the design, implementation, and support of instructional technologies that enhance teaching and learning across the university. This role manages a team of professionals responsible for deploying and maintaining digital learning environments, instructional tools, and faculty development initiatives. The manager works in close collaboration with academic departments, IT Learning and Training, and central IT services to ensure the alignment of educational technology solutions with institutional goals and pedagogical best practices. This position is responsible for the planning and execution of strategies that support the effective use of technology in instruction, including the integration of learning management systems, classroom technologies, and digital content delivery platforms. The Technical Manager oversees daily operations, ensures system reliability, and promotes innovation in instructional design through technology. Additionally, the manager evaluates new technologies, coordinates training programs for faculty, and leads efforts to improve technology adoption and user experience, while ensuring accessibility, security, and compliance with university standards. At the M2 level, the Technical Manager is accountable for the performance and output of their team, including setting goals, assigning responsibilities, and overseeing professional development. This role is responsible for administrative tasks such as hiring, performance evaluations, budgeting, and project planning. The manager also serves as a liaison between technical teams and academic stakeholders, translating instructional needs into technical solutions and guiding the successful implementation of educational technologies across the institution. Through strategic leadership and technical expertise, the Technical Manager ensures that technology is effectively leveraged to advance the university’s educational mission.
