Develops and maintains infrastructures and processes for creating, managing, securing, and exchanging all forms of electronic data. Incorporates leading-edge techniques for collaboratively enhancing the performance of installed systems, identifying new technologies, developing applications, and transitioning from legacy to new systems.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

The Associate Technical Executive within Information Technology plays a pivotal role in the strategic development and execution of IT services and infrastructure across the organization. Operating at an executive level, this position is responsible for the oversight of complex systems and processes that involve the use, management, and security of electronic data. The individual in this role must ensure the alignment of IT systems with the organization’s broader objectives, guiding teams in the creation, maintenance, and enhancement of digital infrastructure that supports organizational goals. This role involves understanding emerging technologies and leading initiatives to upgrade legacy systems, ensuring seamless integration and high performance across university systems. With a focus on leadership and technical expertise, the Associate Technical Executive will oversee multiple disciplines or functions, coordinating and leading directors and managers to achieve operational goals. This role requires a deep understanding of technical and STEM-related domains, providing strategic direction in the development and implementation of cutting-edge technologies. The executive is responsible for setting annual goals, ensuring that resources are allocated effectively, and monitoring progress to ensure the successful execution of initiatives. The position requires a balance between technical expertise and high-level strategic decision-making, with a direct impact on the overall success of the university’s IT strategy and performance. As a key leader, the Associate Technical Executive will contribute to university-wide strategic panels and teams, offering insights and recommendations that shape the future of IT services and policies. This position is integral to the organization’s ability to innovate and stay competitive, ensuring the seamless operation of IT infrastructure that supports academic, administrative, and research functions. With direct responsibility for key areas of IT governance, security, and system development, the Associate Technical Executive ensures that the institution’s digital framework is robust, secure, and adaptable to future needs, playing a critical role in the institution’s ongoing growth and success.
