Develops and maintains infrastructures and processes for creating, managing, securing, and exchanging all forms of electronic data. Incorporates leading-edge techniques for collaboratively enhancing the performance of installed systems, identifying new technologies, developing applications, and transitioning from legacy to new systems.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The Technical Supervisor within Information Technology plays a critical role in overseeing and guiding a team of experienced technical professionals, ensuring the smooth operation and success of IT initiatives. This position is responsible for coordinating daily activities, managing workflows, and ensuring that tasks are completed in alignment with organizational goals. The Technical Supervisor provides hands-on leadership, offering guidance and support to team members to enhance their technical skills and ensure high-quality work across projects. Additionally, they help to identify areas for improvement in systems and processes, ensuring efficient and secure handling of IT resources. In this supervisory role, the Technical Supervisor manages the operational aspects of the IT department, including developing and monitoring team schedules, allocating resources, and setting priorities. They are directly involved in the orientation and training of new employees, ensuring that all team members are up to speed on tools, systems, and best practices. The Technical Supervisor is also responsible for evaluating team performance, providing constructive feedback, and addressing any issues or concerns. Their leadership helps maintain a productive and motivated team, ensuring that IT services meet the organization's performance standards and that any technical challenges are addressed promptly. The Technical Supervisor also plays a key role in bridging communication between their team and higher management, reporting on progress, challenges, and successes. They ensure that the team works collaboratively to meet project deadlines and deliverables while promoting continuous improvement in both processes and skills.
