Information Technology is responsible for the use of any computers, software applications, storage, networking, and other hardware or physical devices. Develops and maintains infrastructures and processes for creating, managing, securing, and exchanging all forms of electronic data. Incorporates leading-edge techniques for collaboratively enhancing the performance of installed systems, identifying new technologies, developing applications, and transitioning from legacy to new systems.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Information Technology is responsible for leading a team of technical professionals, ensuring the effective implementation and execution of IT strategies within the department. This position oversees the daily operations of the team, managing resources, setting priorities, and ensuring that all projects align with organizational objectives. The Technical Manager plays a key role in guiding the team through the planning, development, and deployment of IT systems and solutions, ensuring they are optimized for performance, security, and scalability. They also collaborate closely with other departments to ensure that IT solutions meet the evolving needs of the organization. In this managerial role, the Technical Manager is responsible for the performance and productivity of their team. They set clear goals and expectations, monitor progress, and hold team members accountable for their work. This includes providing coaching, mentorship, and support to ensure that employees have the resources and training needed to succeed. The Technical Manager is also responsible for conducting performance evaluations, addressing disciplinary matters, and providing recommendations for hiring and termination. Their leadership ensures that the team remains focused and motivated while delivering high-quality IT solutions. The Technical Manager also plays an essential role in strategic decision-making, working with senior leadership to implement IT initiatives that support the organization’s goals. They are responsible for managing budgets, resources, and timelines to ensure that projects are delivered on schedule and within budget. As a key link between senior management and technical teams, the Technical Manager communicates progress, challenges, and outcomes, ensuring alignment with the broader objectives of the organization. By fostering a collaborative and productive environment, the Technical Manager ensures that the IT department operates efficiently and contributes to the overall success of the organization.
