Position Summary

The Senior Analyst within Information Security plays a critical role in safeguarding the university’s information technology assets by providing expert analysis, guidance, and support for a wide range of security initiatives. This position is responsible for assessing, implementing, and maintaining cybersecurity policies, procedures, and technical controls to protect systems, data, and infrastructure from unauthorized access, breaches, and other threats. The analyst works across departments to ensure that IT security strategies align with university policies, compliance requirements, and emerging threat landscapes. With a focus on risk management, security operations, and access control, the Senior Analyst independently evaluates security vulnerabilities, performs risk assessments, and supports incident response efforts. The role contributes to the design and implementation of secure systems and applications, facilitates identity and access management processes, and helps maintain regulatory compliance through auditing and reporting. This individual also provides consultation on security best practices, collaborates with IT teams to implement safeguards, and participates in policy development and enforcement. As a senior-level individual contributor, the Senior Analyst demonstrates advanced technical expertise and operates with a high degree of autonomy. While not in a formal management role, this position may lead small project teams, mentor junior analysts, and serve as a subject matter expert on security technologies and practices. The role requires a proactive, analytical mindset and a deep understanding of both technical and procedural aspects of information security to ensure the ongoing protection and integrity of the university’s digital environment.
