Position Summary

A Technical Manager within Information Security is responsible for leading a team of security professionals in the development, implementation, and management of security policies and strategies aimed at protecting the organization's data and IT infrastructure. This role involves overseeing the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring that security measures are effectively deployed and maintained across all systems and networks. The Technical Manager is also accountable for managing the team’s response to security incidents, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations to safeguard the organization’s information assets. As a manager, this position requires the Technical Manager to set clear objectives, prioritize tasks, and allocate resources to ensure the team meets both short-term and long-term security goals. The manager is responsible for developing strategies to address emerging threats, overseeing the implementation of new security technologies, and ensuring the continuous improvement of security processes. They collaborate with other departments within IT and across the organization to align security initiatives with business objectives and ensure the effectiveness of security controls and solutions. Additionally, the Technical Manager plays a key role in ensuring that the team is trained and updated on the latest security threats and best practices. The Technical Manager within Information Security also has a leadership and mentoring role, providing guidance and support to junior staff, helping to develop their technical skills and knowledge. They conduct performance evaluations, provide feedback, and help in career development within the security team. Furthermore, the manager is responsible for reporting on security performance to senior leadership, including providing insights on risk management, incident response, and overall security posture. By ensuring effective team management, strategic planning, and technical expertise, the Technical Manager plays a critical role in safeguarding the organization's information systems and enhancing its overall security strategy.
