IT Business Systems develops and implements new systems as well as enhances current systems. Identifies and analyzes business needs, gathers requirements, and defines the goals and scope of the work. Evaluates evolving business requirements and makes recommendations for appropriate systems alternatives and enhancements to current systems.
Executive
Executive: The positions work is achieved through the strategic direction of the organization as a whole. Executives have direct accountability for setting strategic goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of a senior management area or other business unit with a universitywide scope of impact. These positions contribute to the highest-level panels and teams. The decisions made under the purview of the executive positions duties must routinely have direct impact on success across the university and impact the overall development of the university. Executive positions are reflected in the E1-E3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Associate Executive: Accountable for annual execution of goals and objectives in area of responsibility; disseminates goals to direct reports and ensures goals are operationalized. Recommends and may approve policy for area of operational and/or functional control. Typically has multiple directors and managers as direct reports. Scope of responsibility is a university wide sub-function with multiple disciplines, or multiple functions within a college or business unit.

Position Summary

The Associate Technical Executive of IT Business Systems is responsible for overseeing the strategic direction and operational execution of IT systems that support the university’s business functions. In this role, the executive leads a team of senior technical professionals and ensures that the university's technology systems are aligned with broader institutional goals. They guide the development, enhancement, and integration of systems that support critical academic, financial, and administrative processes, and oversee the analysis and implementation of new technologies to meet evolving business needs. The Associate Technical Executive works collaboratively with other university leaders to set long-term technical strategies that contribute to the institution’s mission. The Associate Technical Executive is directly responsible for managing the planning and execution of technology initiatives across multiple disciplines, ensuring that business requirements are met and systems are optimized for efficiency and security. This includes evaluating emerging technologies, recommending system improvements, and ensuring seamless integration with existing platforms. They will have a hands-on role in overseeing large-scale projects, from system upgrades and transitions to new platforms, while ensuring that the team remains focused on delivering scalable and reliable solutions that meet university-wide needs. Additionally, they will be accountable for budgeting, staffing, and resource management within the IT Business Systems division, ensuring effective allocation of resources and proper execution of all goals. Reporting directly to senior leadership, the Associate Technical Executive serves as a key advisor on technology systems and business operations, providing strategic insight and recommendations for university-wide system initiatives. They help shape policies related to IT governance and operational protocols, while ensuring that technical teams are adhering to the highest standards of security, performance, and innovation. By working across multiple functional areas, the Associate Technical Executive ensures that IT Business Systems plays a critical role in driving the university’s academic and administrative success through efficient, forward-thinking technological solutions.
