IT Business Systems develops and implements new systems as well as enhances current systems. Identifies and analyzes business needs, gathers requirements, and defines the goals and scope of the work. Evaluates evolving business requirements and makes recommendations for appropriate systems alternatives and enhancements to current systems.

In charge of overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, etc. for the unit. Collaborates with executive leadership on establishing strategic goals across the function.

Position Summary

The Technical Director of IT Business Systems is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and enhancement of technology systems that support the university's operational and business needs. This role entails overseeing the technical aspects of system architecture, infrastructure management, and the integration of new technologies into existing systems. The Technical Director ensures that all IT systems are aligned with business goals and deliver optimal performance, scalability, and security. They collaborate with various stakeholders to identify business requirements, evaluate system alternatives, and drive the successful implementation of new technologies that improve operational efficiency and meet the evolving needs of the institution. As a key leader in IT Business Systems, the Technical Director manages a team of IT professionals responsible for system analysis, design, development, and support. They oversee the day-to-day activities of the team, ensuring that projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget. The director is responsible for providing guidance, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to team members while ensuring that technical solutions are aligned with best practices, security protocols, and university standards. Additionally, the Technical Director plays a critical role in recruitment, staff evaluations, and resource allocation to ensure the team’s success in delivering complex technical solutions. The Technical Director also works closely with university leadership to define strategic goals for IT systems and applications. They play a central role in budget planning, staffing decisions, and ensuring the long-term sustainability and performance of IT systems. By managing the planning and execution of system transitions, upgrades, and integrations, the Technical Director ensures the continued relevance of technology within the institution's operational landscape. Through effective leadership, strategic planning, and technical expertise, the Technical Director drives innovation in IT Business Systems, contributing to the university’s mission of delivering high-quality educational services and supporting student success.
