Position Summary

The Technical Director within Network Architecture leads the strategic planning, development, and implementation of the university’s network infrastructure, ensuring it meets the evolving demands of a complex, high-performance academic and research environment. This role oversees the design and architecture of secure, scalable, and resilient network systems, aligning technical direction with institutional priorities and long-term goals. The director provides expert guidance on infrastructure modernization, integration of cloud-based services, and the adoption of emerging technologies to support innovative teaching, learning, and administrative operations. In this leadership position, the Technical Director manages the planning and delivery of network architecture initiatives across multiple university units, overseeing the work of technical teams and coordinating with IT and academic stakeholders. The role involves directing the design of core network components such as switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless infrastructure, ensuring seamless connectivity and adherence to security and performance standards. The director also drives the development of policies, protocols, and architecture standards, guiding the transition from legacy systems to next-generation infrastructure. Responsible for the overall management of staffing, budgeting, and strategic planning within network architecture, the director fosters a collaborative and forward-thinking environment that supports operational excellence and innovation. This includes mentoring staff, leading cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring accountability for delivering high-impact, sustainable technology solutions. Through strong technical leadership and coordination, the Technical Director plays a vital role in maintaining the university’s position at the forefront of digital infrastructure in higher education.
