Network and Telecommunication Services is responsible for the daily administration and management of network and telecommunications components, including network switches, routers, firewalls, proxies, operating systems, infrastructure applications, appliances, and cloud integration. Manages voice, data, and video communication systems throughout the university, analyzing and resolving issues with communication programs.

Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The Technical Manager within Network and Telecommunication Services is responsible for overseeing the planning, implementation, and daily operations of the university’s network and communication infrastructure. This role manages a team that supports the administration of critical network components, including routers, switches, firewalls, proxies, and related infrastructure applications. The manager ensures the reliable and secure delivery of voice, data, and video communication services to support academic, research, and administrative functions across the institution. In addition to managing operational activities, the Technical Manager leads projects focused on system upgrades, cloud integration, and network optimization. This role collaborates with other IT units to align technical strategies with institutional goals and ensures that solutions meet both current and future needs. The manager also oversees incident response, change management, and performance monitoring to maintain high service availability and to support business continuity. Technical documentation, vendor coordination, and policy enforcement are key components of this position’s responsibilities. This position requires strong leadership and technical expertise to guide a team of professionals in delivering high-quality support and service. The manager is responsible for staff supervision, including hiring, training, performance evaluation, and workload management. By fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement, the Technical Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of the university’s network and telecommunications environment.
