General Coordinator, Civil Rights & Accessibility

Civil Rights and Accessibility provides consultation to faculty, staff, and students on matters relating to the universitys policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment. Responsible for determining reasonable accommodations in university programs and coordinating accommodations services like note taking, alternate text requests, and furniture coordination.

Position Summary

The General Coordinator within Civil Rights and Accessibility plays a vital role in supporting the university’s efforts to create an inclusive, accessible environment for all faculty, staff, and students. This position focuses on coordinating and managing services related to accommodations for individuals with disabilities, ensuring that the university adheres to legal standards and internal policies regarding accessibility. The General Coordinator works closely with other departments to provide guidance and support on creating a campus that is free from discrimination and harassment, promoting equal opportunities for all. In this role, the General Coordinator serves as a key point of contact for faculty, staff, and students who request accommodations or have questions about accessibility services. This includes working on the identification and determination of reasonable accommodations, such as note-taking services, alternate text requests, and furniture arrangements. Additionally, the Coordinator is responsible for maintaining accurate records of accommodations requests and ensuring compliance with university policies and legal requirements. This position requires strong attention to detail and the ability to work efficiently within the broader framework of the university's Civil Rights initiatives. As an individual contributor, the General Coordinator works closely with other staff members within Civil Rights and Accessibility and other departments to facilitate a seamless and inclusive experience for all campus community members. The Coordinator must effectively communicate with various stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure that accessibility concerns are addressed promptly. This role requires a combination of practical knowledge, organizational skills, and sensitivity to the needs of individuals with disabilities, along with the ability to work within the regulatory framework governing Civil Rights and accessibility within higher education.
