Civil Rights and Accessibility provides consultation to faculty, staff, and students on matters relating to the universitys policies prohibiting discrimination and harassment. Responsible for determining reasonable accommodations in university programs and coordinating accommodations services like note taking, alternate text requests, and furniture coordination.

Position Summary

The Senior General Coordinator within Civil Rights and Accessibility plays a critical role in ensuring that the university complies with legal and institutional policies related to accessibility, diversity, and inclusion. This position is responsible for coordinating and overseeing the provision of reasonable accommodations for students, staff, and faculty, ensuring all individuals have equal access to university programs and services. The Senior General Coordinator works to maintain the university’s commitment to fostering a culture of Civil Rights, accessibility, and inclusion, while ensuring adherence to legal requirements and best practices in the field. In this senior-level role, the General Coordinator serves as a subject matter expert, providing guidance and consultation on complex cases involving accessibility needs and accommodations. This includes reviewing requests for accommodations, making recommendations for necessary adjustments, and managing accommodation services such as note-taking, alternate text formats, and special furniture arrangements. The Senior Coordinator also takes a lead role in evaluating current systems and processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing new strategies to enhance accessibility services across the university. This position requires the ability to independently resolve issues and ensure that the university’s practices align with legal requirements and institutional goals. As an individual contributor with senior-level experience, the Senior General Coordinator will work closely with campus partners, faculty, staff, and students to ensure an inclusive and accessible environment. This role may involve mentoring and providing guidance to junior staff or temporary employees, as well as leading training and awareness initiatives around accessibility issues. The Senior Coordinator must work effectively with other departments to support and enforce the university’s commitment to Civil Rights and inclusion, ensuring that the needs of individuals with disabilities are met with the highest standard of care and efficiency.
