Affirmative Action is responsible for the universitys affirmative action programs, which include implementing audit programs to ensure compliance with equal employment opportunity laws and affirmative action regulations.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 2
Manager: Responsible for leading a team of professionals and/or support employees. Has full responsibility for team output. Focuses on implementing and executing strategies within their own department or team.

Position Summary

The General Manager within Affirmative Action is responsible for overseeing and executing the university’s affirmative action programs, ensuring compliance with equal employment opportunity laws and affirmative action regulations. This role involves leading a team of professionals dedicated to promoting diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity within the university’s employment practices. The General Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategies to achieve affirmative action goals, tracking the university's progress, and ensuring that policies and programs align with legal and regulatory requirements. As part of the leadership team, the General Manager will oversee the development and execution of audit programs to monitor compliance with affirmative action regulations. They will provide strategic direction and management for reporting and analysis of data related to employment practices, helping identify areas for improvement in recruitment, hiring, and retention practices for underrepresented groups. Additionally, the General Manager will collaborate with internal stakeholders, including HR and department heads, to ensure that affirmative action policies are effectively communicated and implemented throughout the university. The General Manager will also be responsible for managing the performance of their team, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure successful execution of the university’s affirmative action objectives. This includes overseeing the preparation of reports for both internal and external audits, addressing any compliance issues, and advising senior leadership on strategies for improving the university’s diversity and inclusion efforts. Through these efforts, the General Manager plays a key role in fostering a culture of equity and accessibility, ensuring the university meets its legal obligations while also promoting a diverse and inclusive academic and professional environment.
