Digitization is responsible for digitization of collections in a wide range of formats. Enables appropriate management and stewardship of digital objects to promote accessibility that meet continually evolving standards and specifications for imaging and related metadata creation. May include contributions to overall digitization strategy and policies.

Position Summary

The Associate General Coordinator within Digitization is responsible for assisting with the digitization of library collections across a wide range of formats, ensuring that materials are converted into digital objects for preservation, accessibility, and academic use. The role involves handling various aspects of the digitization process, including imaging, metadata creation, and ensuring the quality of digital outputs. The Associate Coordinator helps implement the organization’s digitization policies and strategies to meet evolving standards and specifications, contributing to the long-term stewardship and accessibility of library collections in digital formats. In this entry-level position, the Associate General Coordinator will work closely with more senior digitization staff to carry out digitization tasks and contribute to the development of strategies and workflows that enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of digitization efforts. The position involves maintaining close attention to detail, ensuring that both imaging and metadata creation meet the required standards for long-term storage and usability. The Associate Coordinator also plays a role in reviewing and troubleshooting issues that may arise during the digitization process to ensure consistency and quality across the collection. While the role requires some experience and education, the Associate General Coordinator is primarily expected to learn on the job, applying existing knowledge to contribute to the digitization team's goals. This position offers the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in the field of digitization and digital preservation within a library setting, developing expertise in the latest imaging technologies and metadata standards. The position works collaboratively with a team but may also have opportunities to lead certain aspects of the process as needed, contributing to the overall success of the digitization initiatives in support of Library Services’ mission to enhance academic teaching, learning, and research.
