General Coordinator, Digitization

Digitization is responsible for digitization of collections in a wide range of formats. Enables appropriate management and stewardship of digital objects to promote accessibility that meet continually evolving standards and specifications for imaging and related metadata creation. May include contributions to overall digitization strategy and policies.

Position Summary

The General Coordinator within Digitization plays a vital role in assisting the digitization process of library collections, ensuring a wide range of materials are converted into accessible digital formats for future preservation and academic use. The position is responsible for contributing to imaging tasks, creating metadata, and ensuring the digital objects meet evolving standards and specifications. The General Coordinator also helps maintain the integrity and accessibility of digitized materials, supporting the long-term management of these collections as part of the library's broader mission to enhance teaching, learning, and research. This intermediate-level position requires collaboration with digitization specialists and other library staff to execute digitization workflows, troubleshoot issues, and ensure that high standards are consistently met throughout the process. The role may also include coordinating with external vendors or departments for the acquisition of necessary equipment, storage, and other resources to support digitization activities. As part of a team, the General Coordinator will support and contribute to the overall digitization strategy, providing input to improve procedures and contributing to the documentation of policies and workflows. While the General Coordinator position requires some experience in digitization and relevant education, individuals in this role are expected to operate with a moderate degree of supervision and guidance. The position allows the coordinator to gain expertise and take on more responsibility over time, particularly in areas such as project management, process optimization, and quality control. The individual contributor nature of the role means the General Coordinator will be expected to demonstrate initiative, manage their tasks efficiently, and contribute to a collaborative environment that drives the success of the digitization efforts within Library Services.
