Senior General Coordinator, Digitization

Digitization is responsible for digitization of collections in a wide range of formats. Enables appropriate management and stewardship of digital objects to promote accessibility that meet continually evolving standards and specifications for imaging and related metadata creation. May include contributions to overall digitization strategy and policies.

Position Summary

The Senior General Coordinator within Digitization plays a vital role in supporting Library Services by coordinating and executing advanced digitization workflows that enhance access to library collections. This position contributes to the preservation and dissemination of materials in a wide range of formats by converting physical items into high-quality digital objects. Through the application of established and emerging standards for imaging and metadata creation, the Senior General Coordinator supports the library’s mission to facilitate academic teaching, learning, and research through increased digital accessibility. Working independently and as part of a team, this role is responsible for implementing digitization processes, ensuring quality control, and maintaining the integrity of digital files and associated metadata. The Senior General Coordinator may assist in the development of digitization strategies, contribute to policy formation, and collaborate with colleagues across library departments to support large-scale or special digitization projects. The position requires knowledge of imaging technologies, file formats, metadata standards, and digital preservation practices to ensure that digital objects are both usable and sustainable over time. As a senior-level individual contributor in General Administration, the Senior General Coordinator exercises a high level of autonomy and may provide functional leadership on specific initiatives or workflows. The role may coordinate the efforts of other staff or student workers and serve as a subject-matter expert in digitization practices. With a strong foundation in both technical skills and project coordination, this position is instrumental in advancing the library’s digital initiatives and expanding the reach and impact of its collections.
