Position Summary

The Academic Consultant within Library Services is an advanced-level position that provides expert guidance and strategic advice on the development, management, and accessibility of library resources that support academic teaching, learning, and research. This role requires in-depth knowledge of library operations, educational technologies, and academic support services. The Academic Consultant works closely with faculty, staff, and students to ensure that library services are aligned with academic goals and that resources are available to enhance the educational experience. They also serve as a key resource for advising on the best practices for utilizing library collections and information systems to meet academic needs. In addition to offering expert advice, the Academic Consultant plays a pivotal role in the development and implementation of academic initiatives that improve the delivery of library services. This includes collaborating with academic departments to integrate library resources into the curriculum, advising on library collection development strategies, and providing training and support to faculty and students on using library services for research and instruction. The consultant may also lead projects related to the integration of new technologies and systems to ensure the library remains responsive to evolving academic demands. As an individual contributor at an advanced level, the Academic Consultant operates with a high degree of independence and provides leadership and mentorship to other library staff or academic teams. The role requires the ability to manage complex tasks, influence key stakeholders, and lead initiatives that have a significant impact on the academic community. This position demands a strong blend of professional expertise, leadership capabilities, and a deep understanding of the academic environment, positioning the consultant as a trusted advisor and thought leader within the library services department.
