Oversees day-to-day residence experiences, operations, and functions for students living on campus and in university-owned properties. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.

Position Summary

The Academic Manager within Residence Life is responsible for overseeing and managing the day-to-day operations and programs of residence life services that support student engagement, development, and academic success within on-campus housing. This position plays a critical role in creating a supportive, inclusive, and academically stimulating environment for students living in university-owned housing. The Academic Manager leads a team of residence life staff, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among team members to deliver high-quality services, programs, and resources for students. As a manager, the Academic Manager is accountable for setting and achieving goals within the residence life department. This includes developing and executing strategies that enhance the student experience through academic support programs, co-curricular activities, and student development initiatives. The Academic Manager is also responsible for the oversight of residence life operations, ensuring the delivery of services that promote student well-being, safety, and a positive living environment. This includes supervising the coordination of events, academic workshops, and faculty-student interaction programs within residence halls. In addition to the day-to-day responsibilities, the Academic Manager is tasked with staff management duties, including recruiting, training, mentoring, and evaluating residence life staff. They are responsible for conducting performance evaluations, providing guidance and support, and ensuring the effective development of staff. The Academic Manager also serves as a key decision-maker, addressing student concerns, resolving conflicts, and implementing policies and procedures related to residence life. This leadership position requires a strong ability to manage resources effectively, drive programmatic success, and contribute to the overall mission of enhancing student success and engagement within the residence life setting.
