Educates students in self-reflection, identifying their options for majors and careers, and to communicate skills and interests through written methods and interpersonally.

Position Summary

The Academic Coordinator within Student Advising is responsible for supporting the daily operations of the student advising team, helping ensure that all advising services meet the academic, personal, and professional needs of students. This position plays a key role in guiding students through academic planning and providing resources to help them achieve their educational goals. The coordinator works closely with other student services teams to ensure a cohesive approach to student support, advising on major and career exploration, course selection, and overall academic progress. In this role, the Academic Coordinator assists in the implementation of advising programs and initiatives that foster student engagement, self-reflection, and decision-making. They help advise students in selecting appropriate academic courses, understanding graduation requirements, and addressing challenges related to their academic journey. Additionally, the coordinator provides support for advising processes, including tracking student progress, preparing reports, and assisting in the development of materials that educate students on available resources and academic opportunities. The Academic Coordinator also contributes to the training and development of new academic advisors and support staff. They ensure that team members are equipped with the tools, knowledge, and resources necessary to provide effective advising services to students. As an integral member of the student services team, the coordinator ensures the continued improvement of advising practices, collaborating with colleagues to optimize student success and satisfaction within the academic advising process.
