Military Affairs is responsible for serving the universitys military student community. Collaborates with university partners to ensure military and veteran dependents are connected to the financial, academic, and social resources necessary for a successful transition to and through their course of study at the university.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 1
Supervisor: Supervises experienced administrative, operative, and/or technical roles. Coordinates schedules and workflow for the team. Focuses on team completion of assignments and is responsible for ensuring the orientation and training of employees.

Position Summary

The Academic Supervisor within Military Affairs provides frontline leadership and operational oversight for programs and services designed to support military-affiliated students, including active-duty service members, veterans, and their dependents. Operating within the broader framework of Student Services and Student Affairs, this role ensures the delivery of tailored support that facilitates the successful transition of military-connected students into university life. The supervisor helps coordinate access to financial, academic, and social resources while promoting a welcoming and inclusive environment that supports student development and achievement. This position works closely with campus partners—including academic advising, financial aid, and student support services—to implement programs that address the unique needs of military-affiliated populations. The Academic Supervisor assists in planning outreach initiatives, transition programs, and engagement activities that support the holistic success of these students. By maintaining consistent communication with both students and institutional stakeholders, the supervisor ensures that military-connected students are well-supported throughout their academic journey and are empowered to pursue their educational goals confidently. At the M1 level in the academic administration and management track, the Academic Supervisor is responsible for coordinating day-to-day operations, overseeing team workflow, and ensuring effective orientation and training of staff. The supervisor monitors service delivery, supports the professional development of staff members, and helps align team efforts with the broader goals of Military Affairs and Student Services. This position requires a detail-oriented and student-focused leader with a strong understanding of military culture, a commitment to student advocacy, and the ability to foster collaboration across departments to enhance the overall student experience.
