Student Services is responsible for the management and administration of work in multiple student services specialties, including but not limited to academic advising, career services, admissions, financial aid, student advocacy and support, health and wellness services, student engagement and development, learning support services, and housing and residential life.
Management / Leadership
Manager: The positions work is achieved through the direction of others. Managers have direct accountability for setting goals and using resources. They are responsible for administrative oversight of individuals, including conducting recommendations for hiring and termination, writing evaluations, disciplinary actions, day-to-day oversight as well as long-term goal setting and accountability for the performance and productivity of the employees. Managerial positions are reflected in the M1-M3 career track levels in the management/leadership track.
Level 3
Director: Directs and controls the activities of multiple university units or leads a team of professionals with significant university wide impact. Typically has indirect reports. In charge of overall control of planning, staffing, budgeting, etc. for the unit. Collaborates with executive leadership on establishing strategic goals across the function.

Position Summary

The Academic Director within Student Services provides strategic leadership and oversight for a broad range of student-facing programs that are essential to the academic and personal development of the student body. This position directs multiple areas within Student Services, which may include academic advising, career services, student support and advocacy, wellness initiatives, and student engagement. The director ensures that programs are aligned with institutional goals for student success, equity, and retention, and that they are delivered in a student-centered, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate manner. In this leadership role, the Academic Director works collaboratively across academic departments and administrative units to create a cohesive and supportive student experience. The director develops and evaluates policies, initiatives, and assessment strategies that strengthen co-curricular learning, foster academic progress, and promote student well-being. Through data-informed planning and continuous improvement, the director ensures services are responsive to changing student needs and reflective of national best practices in student affairs and academic administration. At the M3 level in the management/leadership track, the Academic Director is responsible for overall control of planning, staffing, and budgeting within the student services unit. This includes supervision of managers and professional staff, indirect oversight of cross-functional teams, and participation in high-level institutional decision-making. The director collaborates closely with executive leadership to establish and implement strategic goals that support a seamless, high-impact student experience. This role requires a dynamic and visionary leader with the ability to drive innovation, foster collaboration, and uphold the university’s commitment to student success.
