Senior Development Specialist, Stewardship

Stewardship supports the stewardship program of the university. Develops, implements, and supports the internal policy and process for stewarding donors for life, ensuring funds are used for purposes designated by donors. Creates and participates in new and innovative ways to build meaningful relationships with donors.

Position Summary

The Senior Development Specialist in Stewardship plays a key role in managing and enhancing the university’s stewardship program, ensuring that donor contributions are used as intended and building long-term, meaningful relationships with donors. This position is responsible for developing and implementing policies and processes that align with the university’s mission to steward donor gifts effectively and ethically. The specialist works independently to ensure that all gifts are appropriately acknowledged, tracked, and used according to donor specifications, contributing to a culture of gratitude and transparency. As a senior-level individual contributor, the Senior Development Specialist is expected to act with a high degree of autonomy, often taking the lead on complex stewardship projects. This role also provides guidance to junior team members and may collaborate with other departments to support fundraising and engagement initiatives. The specialist is instrumental in creating innovative stewardship strategies that enhance donor satisfaction, increase donor retention, and contribute to the university’s broader advancement goals. Success in this role requires strong relationship-building skills, expertise in stewardship practices, and the ability to work independently while supporting the organization’s strategic objectives.
