Veterinary Sciences is responsible for day-to-day operations of a clinical veterinary teaching hospital. Responsible for activities within the clinical veterinary care unit including the delivery of veterinary care for animals. Supports teaching and excellent patient care. May participate in animal care including assisting in surgery and pre and post-operative care.

Position Summary

The Clinical Manager within Veterinary Sciences is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a clinical veterinary teaching hospital, ensuring the delivery of high-quality veterinary care for animals. This role involves managing a team of veterinary professionals and support staff, providing guidance and supervision to ensure that patient care, including surgery, pre-operative, and post-operative services, is executed effectively. The Clinical Manager ensures that the department operates smoothly, balancing both educational objectives and patient care responsibilities. In addition to managing day-to-day clinical activities, the Clinical Manager plays a critical role in resource allocation, scheduling, and workflow optimization within the veterinary care unit. They collaborate with other departments and contribute to the development and execution of veterinary care standards. The Clinical Manager also ensures compliance with clinical protocols and procedures, maintaining a safe and productive environment for both animals and staff. They actively monitor team performance, conduct evaluations, and provide feedback and support to improve the quality of care and the efficiency of operations. The Clinical Manager is also responsible for fostering a learning environment for veterinary students, residents, and interns. By supervising and mentoring staff and trainees, they contribute to the educational mission of the veterinary sciences program. They are instrumental in maintaining strong communication with faculty, staff, and students, ensuring that all clinical activities align with the hospital’s educational goals and the university’s overall mission of research and community service. Through strong leadership and a commitment to patient care excellence, the Clinical Manager supports the growth and development of the veterinary clinical team while ensuring the well-being of animals under care.
